LUCIDLINES

Adelaide, South Australia

Illustrator / Tattoo Artist

Working privately, Caitlin combines nature and illustration to create unique botanical linework designs.

“I have always found it hard to sit still, so I tend to doodle and sketch and always feel a sense of comfort with a pen or pencil in my hand”.

This creative drive has led Caitlin to further her skills to complete studies in Graphic Design, Illustration, Floristry and Music.

Caitlin has always had a passion for music, specifically playing drums. This led to the connection of working closely with drum company ‘SJC Drums’ (Massachusetts, USA) creating one-off drumkits for a selection of their artists and woodburning her designs into them. It was a natural progression to one day apply for a tattoo apprenticeship, expanding her artwork onto people.

Now with over a decade of experience tattooing, Caitlin mostly focusses on illustration and tattoos whenever possible.

“The human interaction is what I miss the most when I don’t tattoo for extended periods of time. I love connecting with people and learning about how their lives work”.

Her illustration work has reached local and international companies, designing artwork for clothing, shoes, wine labels, bands, food menus and more.

Caitlin tattoos and illustrates under the alias ‘LucidLines’ and although she is not taking on new clients for custom tattoo work, she often posts available appointments for ‘flash’ tattoos. These are drawings that she has created and wants to tattoo, every design is only tattooed once and chosen by the client on the day of the appointment. This process has apparently seen her current clientele relaxed and less likely to overthink their pieces.

“I’ve noticed that people tend to worry about what to get, coming up with the right thing or doing it the right way. Flash appointments take the pressure off and allow you to just come in, see artwork that I’ve put love into, trust your gut and simply choose something because you like it and want to feel good wearing it”.

Caitlin works in a private art studio in Adelaide, South Australia, continuing to take on new illustration projects while occasionally posting available flash tattoo appointments and playing regularly with her band.
